Week 6 Weigh-In

Well, unfortunately we couldn't meet to weigh-in this week because Debbie has some kind of flu. So, here is just a little  blurb from the both of us with our Friday night dinner pictures.

Michele:  This week I sucked!  I was so tired and I didn't work out, not even once.  I ate terrible!  And you know what - I could see it on the scale and in the mirror.  So I couldn't find the energy this week so my plan is to double up next week on exercise.  Hope it works out!

Michele's Friday Dinner: Sonic Cheeseburger with cheesy tater tots

Debbie: Even though I have been sick since last Friday and didn't eat like normal or work out at all....I was still able to lose 2 lbs! Thank goodness!! This brings my total (naked morning weigh-in total) to about 14 lbs!

Debbie's Friday Dinner: Subway 6" Turkey Sub

Week 5 Weigh-In

Michele: Week 5 Weigh-In
Michele: Another loss this week!  Small 1lb loss but still a loss!  I can't believe the difference I'm seeing and feeling.  This is a very exciting journey!

Debbie: Week 5 Weigh-In
Debbie: This week I had a 2 lb weight loss! Very exciting that the pounds are still coming off....at a healthy rate. So far I have lost a total of 9.2 lbs ! My friend Nat forwarded an interesting email from his trainer about "The Primal Blueprint". I'll see if I can follow this more for the next 28 days (until our final weigh-in)!

After we walked Tempe Town Lake we decided to have dinner at Red Robin (we were STARVING)! Here is what we chose to eat.

Michele: Had the Caesar's Chicken Wrap with a side salad (instead of french fries) with ranch (her meal is in the back).
Debbie: Had the Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Wrap (no cheese or ranch) with Chicken Tortilla Soup (no cheese) and 2 melon slices.

Ok I'm down 12lbs from when I started.  Woo!  I have 30 more to go... maybe.  I think thats where I want to be but once I have a nice look I'll start maintaining.  If thats 30lbs more fine.  If thats 20lbs more thats fine too.  If its 40lbs more I might die in a pool of tears before that happens!  LOL - I tease.

Week 4 Weigh-In (We are half way there)

Michele Week 4 Weigh-In
Michele: It was a good week!  Had a 2.6lb loss at the weigh in.  I was really feeling a difference in my clothes this week, so I was really excited when it showed on the scale.

Debbie Week 4 Weigh-In
Debbie: This week was much better than our 9/11 weigh-in! I lost 4.8 lbs!! Woo hoo! I was really feeling down after that weigh-in so this week helped! That means I'm at a total of 7.2 lbs down from our first weigh-in!

Michele: Last week I sucked - this week I'm Back!

Ok so last week was really terrible for me!  I only worked out on Monday.  The rest of the week I didnt do anything.  I think the scale not moving or moving in the wrong direction got to me.
So yesterday I got up and the scale had still not moved.  So I didnt do anything yesterday either.  But then today the, I wanna be skinny bug bit me again - and I'm back!

Tonight I did my tread climber and my added push ups an sit ups.  I really dont like the sit ups at all but I'm requiring myself to do 50 - so I'll live.

Breakfast: A few Cinnamon Mini Donuts & Coffee
Lunch: 1 1/2 slices of jalapeno pizza & glass of Pepsi
Dinner: Spaghetti & Glass of wine

Debbie: My Lonely Friday Weigh-In

Since we can't meet at Tempe Town Lake this Friday I decided to weigh myself around the same time in the same clothes. It looks like I'm down what I "gained" last week plus .4 lbs but still.... Why am I not losing? This is starting to get really frustrating. Any suggestions?

My Week:

Tues:
Breakfast: cereal
Snack: handful of pretzels
Lunch: bagel & watermelon
Snack: handful of pretzels
Dinner: turkey sandwich

I was supposed to do the Plyometrics DVD from P90X but I ran out of time (I know...that's no excuse).

Wed:
Breakfast: cereal & a latte (I know...but I really needed it....REALLY)
Snack: baby carrots
Lunch: turkey sandwich
Snack: apple
Dinner: light alfredo w/squash & broccoli

I did an hour on the elliptical machine and ten minutes or running/walking on the treadmill. Plus, the Shoulders & Arms DVD from P90X. I can't believe I did all this because it was a tough day at work and I had worked 2 hours of overtime (with one break....I was worn out)!

Thurs:
Breakfast: cereal
Snack: low fat yogurt & banana
Lunch: light caesar salad
Snack: handful of pretzels
Dinner: steak, chicken, green beans, beans
Snack: serving of pretzel M&Ms

I was supposed to do P90X Yoga DVD but (ok...let me think of an excuse...umm....ok, I just didn't want to do it....ugh)

Fri:
Breakfast: cereal
Snack: watermelon & bagel
Lunch: nachos & a can of Coke Zero
Dinner: chicken kabob, green beans, beans
Snack: serving of pretzel M&Ms
I also had a sample of these new cakes at Frys..... OMG, were they good!! It was just a taste of each flavor (chocolate and raspberry...the chocolate tasted like a Ding Dong but the raspberry one was to die for)! I'm satisfied with the taste I got and don't feel like I need more....phew!

I did an hour on the elliptical machine and ten minutes of running/walking on the treadmill. I'm supposed to do the Legs & Back DVD from P90X..... I was starving when I got home so I had to cook....now wait for it to digest. Will I do it?? I really hope so. Ugh.

Debbie: I Can Do This!!

Ok, today was weird. I woke up late....15 minutes before I was supposed to be at work (forgot I was to go in an hour early today). So, you know how that goes....screws your whole day up. I didn't eat well....I hardly had time to eat anything and my choices were not great....not bad....but not great. I did do an hour on the elliptical machine THEN ten minutes on the treadmill running for two minutes then walking for two minutes....and so on. I hope to be able to work up to running for the whole ten....then more. Baby steps. PLUS, I came home and did the P90X DVD of Chest & Back and the Ab Ripper X!

Breakfast: Bagel and coffee (Ugh, I NEEDED it though)
Snack: Handful of pretzels
Lunch: Sherbet on a cake cone
Snack: Handful of pretzels
Dinner: 4 Scrambled egg whites (1 yolk) and fat free refried beans

Week 2 Weigh-In: This Was Not A Good One!

9-11 We Will Never Forget!

9-11 Memorial at Tempe Town Lake

Each flag had a card on it with the name, age, place person died, and a little bit of info about them.

Michele: This week was a little disappointing...1.8 lb gain!!! But I have a plan in place to up my work out starting Monday!.  I'm still feeling the difference in my clothes, so I'm just going to keep going!

Debbie: Ok, I was really upset at this weigh in. When I weighed myself this morining at my "private" weigh-in...I was amost down 10 lbs total from 2 weeks ago. Then when I go to weigh infront of Michele....BOOM...a 2.2 lb weight gain!! What the hell is going on here?? (Do you see how sad my face is in this picture?) After I huffed and puffed and felt sorry for myself (just wanting to go down the street to Macayos and get an iced cold Corona and chips with salsa) I said that this was just a fluke....and to not give up! You just feel so let down when you work so hard only to gain weight. Ugh.

We walked all around Tempe Town Lake this Friday. This is Michele on Mill Ave Bridge that we had to cross to get back to Tempe Beach Park.

We won't be able to meet next Friday to weigh-in so be sure to check out our daily posts to see how we are kicking butt this week to LOSE weight at the next weigh-in 9/23.

Michele: Didn't Do Anything!!!

Today is the first day I have really blew it since I started this thing 3 almost 4 weeks ago.  I didnt do ANYTHING!!!  I didnt get up at 4a and work out, I didnt work out when I got home and I ate way too much pizza for lunch!!!

Today's Meals:

Dinner: 6 Hot Wings
Snack: Skinny Cow Clusters

Ok it was hard - but I made 4am.  Alarm went off and I got up.  Got right on the tread climber.  Got my work out done and over.  I came home from work and had dinner made and ate before 6pm!  Woo!  It was a good day!  Hope the results of my hard work will show on the scale Friday!

Started the day with 220 calories gone!
Breakfast: 2 Eggos
Lunch: 2 slices Peperoni Pizza
Dinner: Asian Chicken Salad
Snack: Skinny Cow Clusters - Yum!

Michele: Week 3 Begins

First let me start by saying I didnt do much of anything over the weekend but sleep!  I was very tired and I knew I had not been getting the sleep I needed all week so I slept!

However today, even though its a holiday, it is Monday.  So I got up and did my Monday weigh in (3rd week).  No change in weight.  A little discouraging but at the same time I'm seeing such a difference in the way my clothes fit that I'm ok with the scale not moving for right now.  I also think last week even tho I was working out every day I was doing it in the evening, it was then making my dinner time so late that I think it didnt really do any good - just held steady.

Hoping this week I will be able to get out of bed in time (4am) and get my work out in first.  That so far has proven to give me the best results.

30 minutes this morning and I burned 224 calories first thing!
Meals:
Breakfast: 2 Eggos and Coffee
Lunch: 8pc Nugget from Chick-fil-a & small Waffle Fries
Dinner: 8pc Nugget from Chick-fil-a & small Fries from McD's
Snacks: 1/4c peanut butter M&M's & Keebler Sandwich Crackers

Debbie: Phase 2 of the "Diet"

Now I'm starting Phase 2 of the "Diet". This means I can add lean meat, seafood, cheese, cold cereal, sweeteners, and diet soda (limited amounts of course).

This weekend I was all over the place....with sleep, food, and exercise (or should I say lack of exercise). I didn't eat anything bad (except a "low fat" cinnamon roll my boyfriend whipped up). I just felt sooooo exhausted that I could barely get myself out of bed Saturday. I'm having a real hard time with the whole "no caffeine" thing. So, I had some iced tea and it helped. I'm not giving up though..... I CAN DO THIS!!

Week One: Our 1st Weigh-In

We met at Tempe Town Lake for our first weigh-in and our weekly walk/run. This time it was a bit chilly compared to last time.....100 degrees! Ugh!

                                                            Michele Week 1 Weigh-In
Michele: Only down .02lbs this week, but I was expecting that since this is technically my second week and last week was such a big loss.  Still any weight loss is better then weight gain!

                                                            Debbie Week 1 Weigh-In
Debbie: I'm down 4.6 lbs this week. I'm pretty happy with that. I think 2 lbs a week would be healthy but my goal is 3. If I continue to lose at least 4.5 lbs a week I will lose the 40 lbs by October 28!! Woo!

Since we met a little earlier this week we decided to walk more instead of walking and then running. Debbie's legs were still killing her from using the elliptical machine on the highest incline (and she did P90X Yoga the day before....ouch). She could barely walk. Plus, she was starving.....she didn't eat much this day. We decided to walk to Chili's for dinner after our "work out".

Michele's Dinner: The Triple Dipper with boneless buffalo chicken wings, spinach dip w/chips, chicken strips and an iced tea to drink.

Debbie's Dinner: The low fat version of the Sante Fe Chicken Wrap with a side of steamed broccoli and iced water with lemon to drink.

Michele: Tough Day

Today was tough.  I didnt make my 4am mark again but I did do my tread climber first thing when I got home.  It was the hardest 40 minutes I've been threw so far.  I'm not sure why.  Oh well I'm still doing it.  Tomorrow is weight in time.  My clothes are getting loose but I know the scale doesnt always reflect the changes your body is going threw.

Debbie: Tomorrow is Our First Weigh In!!! Scary!!

Today is Thursday....everything is back on plan. Just had chicken in my salad again today. Since I didn't eat much yesterday I felt like I needed the added protein. Starting Monday I will be able to add protein (lean beef, chicken, and fish) back into my diet.

Today I did the yoga DVD from P90X. I believe this is the longest DVD in the set. I was pretty tired so it was hard to get through it but I made it!

I'm nervous about the weigh in tomorrow. What if I'm doing all this hard work and I don't lose a pound?? Ohhh, how terrible would that be??

Debbie: Day 5 and I Blew It!

Day 5 and I blew it....kind of. Tuesday night I got about 3 hours sleep (that's not following my plan) and when I wake up I have a headache!! I broke down and had a Starbucks Double Shot (that contains caffeine...not on my plan) on the way to work...ahhh, a wonderful blend of cream and espresso... Ok, snap out of it...back to the blog. Plus, I took Excedrin for my headache and that also contains the dreaded caffeine!

My stomach doesn't do so well with some medication (which I'm also trying to get off all medication as well) and I felt sick at work. I couldn't really eat anything and the only thing that made my stomach feel better were carbs. Ugh....not on the plan yet. So, I had a handful of pretzels and a bagel.

I still went to the gym after work and did an hour on the elliptical machine AND came home and did P90X Shoulders and Arms. I wasn't really hungry after so I didn't eat dinner (which is not good).

Even though my day didn't go as planned I still tried to make the best choices in these situations. I did what I felt I needed to do to get through the day and feel good but I didn't go overboard. That's a huge step!

Thursday.....will I be back on track??

Michele: Tired

Ok So I'm tired.  Real tired.  I again didnt get up this morning and get on the tread climber.  However when I got home I got right to it!  So I'm still making it happen  - but man I'm tired.  My concern is that doing the tread climber when I get home pushes back the time I eat dinner which isnt good.  So I'm hoping tomorrow I can get up in time to get it out of the way in the morning.  The concern I have is getting enough sleep.  Studies have shown that on average a person who gets only 5-6 hours of sleep at night consumes more calories then a person who gets 7 or more hours of sleep at night.  So I still have some things I need to work out.  Anyone have any tips - let me know!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Michele: Getting it done

This morning was rough.  I didnt want to get up at 4am and face the tread climber.  And I didnt.  So my first thought when I got home was I owe myself time on the tread climber.  So I got myself together and got on.  While I was on the tread climber I thought to myself instead of doing 30 minutes like normal I was going to do 40 minutes.  So that is my "punishment".  If I dont get up in the morning I have to spend 10 more minutes of my time on the tread climber at night!  Either way morning or night as long as I'm getting it done - it doesnt matter.

Debbie: Day 4

Still eating good on the program (had some grilled chicken in my salad...that was pretty much my only no-no).

Did the Plyometrics dvd from P90X! This kills me everytime. I'm soooo tired but when I'm done I feel good that I did it!

Plyometrics (also known as "plyos") is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in sports. Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, or hit harder, depending on the desired training goal. Plyometrics is used to increase the speed or force of muscular contractions, providing explosiveness for a variety of sport-specific activities. Plyometrics has been shown across the literature to be beneficial to a variety of athletes. Benefits range from injury prevention, power development and sprint performance amongst others. Michele: 1 Week Down - 8lbs Gone

Ok, since I started working towards this goal last Monday - I figure I will be doing 2 weigh ins a week.  One on Mon to chart my progress and one on Fri where I will be going head to head with Debbie.  So this morning I got on the scale and I am down 8lbs from last Monday!!!!  WWWOOOOOHHHHOOOO!

So I am continuing on my path.  Eating the same stuff just way less (2 slices of pizza not 4), treadclimber in the morning and if I can fit it in something at night great!  If not I'm not going to worry about the night workout too much.  Tonight I got another 90 minutes of Yoga in.

How is everyone out there doing?  What are you doing to lose weight and how is it going for you?

Debbie: Day 3

It's day 3 and I haven't had any coffee!! Can I survive this? lol Actually, I have been drinking green tea (it's allowed) and I'm not feeling toooo bad.  I've been following my eating program pretty well. Today I did an hour on the elliptical machine (on the highest incline....by accident...ugh) then I came home and did P90X!! It's been about a year since I did P90X and back then I did it for two months and saw results!! It works!! BRING IT!!

Saturday - Weekend Warrior!

So as you all know my approach to this is a little different then what Debbie is doing.  Which I think you have to find what works for you and what you like or don't mind doing or not doing and then you can piece together a plan that works for you.

Here is my basic plan:

FOOD:  I'm not following a diet plan or eat anything special.  All I'm doing is simply eating what I would normally eat just less of it.  For example a breakfast sandwich from a fast food place.  I cut it in half and split it with someone.  Now I don't make it a habit to get these but sometimes you are in a hurry and it's gonna happen.  Also for those treats that show up at the office - cake for example; just have a couple bites.  That way you get the taste and still feel like part of the group but you don't need to eat a slice that is the size of your head.

EXERCISE:  Monday - Friday I will be utilizing my Bo flex Treadcliber for 30 minutes each day.  My goal is to get up early and get it done.  If I just cant seems to get out of bed in time, I make it the first thing I do when I get home.  Saturday is Yoga day!  I use the P90x Yoga and do all 90 minutes.  Sunday is a day of rest but if I feel up to it I will do some Wii Fit.

GOAL:  To lose 40lbs by Oct 28th.  This is a very aggressive goal.  However even if I don't hit this goal by Oct 28th I will celebrate the weight I have lost and keep working towards this goal.

Good luck to everyone else who is working towards a goal!  You'll get there!  Don't ever give up!

Debbies First Meal of the "Fat Fight"

                                                                   Debbie's First Breakfast

Todays first breakfast consists of 4 egg whites (with a splash of skim milk), sauteed onions, mushrooms, green bell pepper, and mushrooms (using olive oil) and a dash of salt. I also had fat free refried beans mixed with some black beans. Sprinkled with fat-free cheese and home made salsa on the side! Mmmm, it was pretty tasty I must say! I also had a cup of green tea...plain (that was a hard one....no coffee....how can I do this)!! My goal is to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day!

Oh, and the pretty pink flowers in the background were a nice (encouraging) surprise from my super sweet boyfriend! :)

                                                                                 First Snack

This is my first snack of the day....it's supposed to be a heavy snack. I chose low-fat vanilla yogurt with fresh raspberries!! I just LUV fresh raspberries!! Also, my second bottle of water!

                                                                                      Lunch

This is my first time cooking Black Beans & Brown Rice.....with the cilantro garnish and a little of that fresh salsa added....it was delicious!! I'm still supposed to eat 2 more snacks and dinner....how will I ever do it?? This will be my third bottle of water.

I was supposed to eat a snack before dinner but I really am still full from lunch....now it's time to make dinner!! They say not to skip ANY meals.... I don't think I'll starve following this plan!

                                                                                   Dinner

My last meal of the day I chose a veggie stir-fry... Plus, my 4th bottle of water! I'm still full from lunch so I really didn't eat that much for dinner. I guess that is better anyway.

                                                                                   Last Snack

For my last snack of the day I will have a plum and another bottle of water. They say to do this at least 2 hours before I go to bed.

Thats it.....this is pretty much what my meals will look like for the next 9 days! Wish me luck!

Here We Go....

                                                                                        Debbie

This is my "before" picture! Now, you have to give us some credit....I know we look like crap....but we just got done running/walking in 114 degree weather! We thought we were gonna die! I hope next weeks picture we remember to take BEFORE we start running! lol

My goal for this blog is to put it out there for the world to see that I am really (I mean it this time) really going to try and get healthy and lose some wieght as well.

With that being said....now on to my plan! I'm going back to the beginning...for the first 9 days I'm going to "detox". I will mostly eat fruits and veggies and clean my body and mind of impurities naturally without fasting or putting any toxins into my system. I will try and get at least 8 hours of sleep a night and surround myself with positive energy and reduce stress (ha, yeah....I can't wait for that one). My exercise plan....I will go to the gym and do at LEAST 30 minutes of cardio Mon, Wed, Fri and then come home to do the strength training videos of P90X! Tues, Thurs, Sat I will do the cardio videos of P90X and Sunday will be my day of rest!! :)

Wish me luck!! I wouldn't mind some extra cash (winning the bet) for the Vegas trip!! Woot-woot!!

And so it begins. . .

Michele

Ok so here it is - this is what the beginning looks like.

I started my journey on Monday August 22, 2011.  I did really good this first week,  I missed one day of working out.  That was Thursday.  I have cut my calories, but I'm not really changing what I eat, just eating less of it.  I figured if that was the food I have always eaten in time I would eventually start eating it again anyway.  So now I just eat a lot less.
Tonight we ran/walked Tempe Town Lake and also did the official weigh in.  Good news is I am down about 4lbs from my weigh in on Monday,  Keep checking back to see my progress.  And if you are doing something to loose weight - post it on our blog!
